Birding trip to Kubah

Kubah National Park

Kubah National Park is located about 20 kilometres from Kuching and takes about 40 minutes to get there by road. The Park  covers 2,230 hectares and is a sandstone plateau,between 150-450 metres high.

The park has a beautiful lowland forest with a great diversity of birds. Endemic species such  as Bornean Banded Kingfisher, Bornean Wren Babbler and Blue Banded Pitta are found here. Other birds include the Scarlet-breasted Flowerpecker and  Asian Paradise-Flycatcher.

Transportation:  Advisable to carpool.  
Direction:          Drive towards Matang Family Park, shortly you will see
                         the  park's entrance sign-posted on the lefthand side. 
Cost:                Park Entrance Fee  RM10.00 (locals)
                                                        RM20.00 (foreigners)
                                                        RM5.00 (senior citizens 55 years old & above)

 Binoculars, camera, scope (if any)
Good walking footwear (no flip-flops)   
 Hat, sunscreen, insect repellent
Bird Field Guide  Book
Notebook and pencil for sketching birds
Poncho/Umbrella

Note 
There will be a relatively gradual climb along tar-sealed road up to 900 feet high from the park office.

There is no canteen at the park.

Subject to weather conditions, we may finish earlier than the scheduled time.

There will be a debriefing to exchange notes on the birds seen before we end the trip.
