Photographs wanted for MNSKB display

Dear members,

MNSKB often receive invitations to set up booths at events. Unfortunately, we are unable to do so because of the lack of materials. As such, the branch has decided to have a mobile booth to showcase our activities and achievements in such events to make an MNS presence.

For the project, we need from the members photographs that you have taken over the years. These are the themes:-

For MNSKB:
IBAs (important bird areas), birding group, tree planting, MNS general eg. who we are, BP column, talks/events, trips, AWC(Asian Water Bird Counts), Gardenbird watch, activities with schools, Bako Buntal Bay activities, coastal wetlands and migratory birds.

For Santubong Peninsula:
Hornbills, dolphins, Wallace, mangroves, history/culture, archaeology, geology, the mountain itself, forest types, otters, the legend, map of Santubong.

Please resize the photos to below 100KB so that we can select from the computer to do a mockup.

Credits will be given to all photos selected.

Please send in your photos by the end of May 2013. mnskuching@gmail.com

Thank you for your support.

Love Life, Love Nature.

Biodiversity Day on 18 and 19 May 2013 (Saturday & Sunday).

Dear Friends of Biodiversity

The Sarawak Biodiversity Centre will be holding its Biodiversity Day on 18 and 19 May 2013 (Saturday & Sunday).
We have many activities lined up including colouring and pottery painting contests for primary school students. For more information on the contests, please call my colleague, Constance Vanessa Victor at 082610610, or send her an email at constance@sbc.org.my
We have public talks scheduled on both days from topic ranging from plants in Sarawak, to edible mushrooms, orchids, our rivers and biodiversity and wildlife conservation in Sarawak.  Please send me an email (biosar@sbc.org.my) to register if you wish to attend these talks.
We will also have representatives from indigenous communities throughout Sarawak who have been actively documenting their Traditional Knowledge with us these two days.  Come sample some of their wares and play their traditional games.  Learn about how they have sustainably utilised plants/biodiversity throughout the centuries.
We have R&D Demonstration, face painting, eco-snakes and ladders, paper art and origami activities to take part in.  We've even thrown in an element of fear factor at one of our booths.  Come and also learn how to make soaps - and if you're lucky, you may even get to make and take the soap home!
Oh yes, a clown will also be making his rounds shaping animal balloons for children of all ages (0-100 years?) during the two days.
Not forgetting, the kind people of the Sarawak Medical Department will also be conducting a free health screen throughout the two days, while our friends from Tarat Fisheries will feature a tankful of live local freshwater fish!

So make a date with SBC on 18 and 19 May 2013 for a fun filled learning experience.  Bring friends and family.

The Biodiversity Day is held in conjunction with International Day for Biological Diversity which falls on 22 May each year.
Attached is our programme (correct at current email time) for your reference. We look forward to seeing you!

Biodiversity for a Better Tomorrow.
